The Open Chemise is made from traditional linen or ‘metis’ night gowns which were often a part of a women’s ‘trousseau’. Each piece in the trousseau was carefully embroidered with the initials of the owner. I’ve altered these wonderful garments by opening the front and adding deep pockets to create a versatile layering peice which can be worn all year round.
Open Chemise 003 is in a midweight plain weave ‘metis’ (50/50 cotton and linen). the off white colour is from a tea stain bath. Ive covered a few stains and small tears with simple embroidery. One size (UK 8 - 12)
